* It took 7 times to get together !

As many of you know, I offer 2 ways to make a “match” at a SPEED DATING event. The person you meet for 7 mins at these events can be rated in one of these Categories:

  1. DATE MATCH- you know the one  that is a “WOW” or a definite YES when you meet.
  2. “FRIENDS” match- which is a MAYBE someone with potential. After all… 7 mins is not a whole lot of time to figure out if they have everything you are looking for.
  3. NO … yep these are the no-ways. Don’t have one of your “must haves” in a romantic relationship.

Many times over and over again, I get asked, mostly from the gentlemen… what is this FRIENDS Match…?When I explain, they say:“Oh forget them… if they didn’t check me off as a DATE then they really aren’t interested. “I always try to encourage – to not leave stones unturned, as my grandma would say…Check out those friends’ matches. YES if you reach out and there is no response or return communication they move on quickly. Proceed with caution, take the pace a bit slower, and have a watch and wait kind of approach. The below note is from a women that had met a gentlemen at one of my events and thought he was a “MAYBE” a friends match… HE takes it slow… She reconsiders him.Read her story and see how patience, time and fate all play a part in bringing people together!PS: The note is real but I do not use real names to protect everyone’s privacy---------------------------------------------------------------------------------I met “J” at your event last November 29th.  I originally had him down as a friends match and when we went on a 2nd date with each other, I then decided I wasn't comfortable dating him due to his situation, but we kept in touch until Christmas.  He was very respectful about it.  I ran into him again at your speed dating event in January that he couldn't attend cause you had too many guys.  Then we ran into each other again at the Shoprite in Hauppauge in February! I felt like it was divine intervention because it was a Friday night and I don't live anywhere near there. I never stopped thinking about him since we met and then when my ex-husband assaulted me in March, I realized that life was too short so I e-mailed him for his birthday a few days later. I had kidded around with him that I felt like Harry met Sally (if you recall…Harry and Sally were friends for 10 years before getting together in the movie on NYE) so he responded that he would see me on New Year's Eve. I told him I didn't know if I could wait that long and then he never responded.  A week later I invited him to see the Beauty & the Beast play at my son's school.  He couldn't make it, but we got together at a karaoke event at the hotel on a different night and I told him how I felt about him.  It took another week for it to sink in I guess and when I didn't hear from him, I made the plans to attend the bowling event, but then he called me again and we started really dating and so far it has been wonderful.  He's a really great guy and he calls me his "angel".  So yes, your "heaven" group was where we had our first encounter and maybe it did take "7" times for us to finally get together?  I'm glad we did and I thank you for that. Love, “X”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And a very grateful THANKS  “X” for taking the time to share your story! I always liked the number 7 who says 3 times a charm anyway? All the best in your quest,Gail PS – Got a friend that needs some encouragement?Forward this blog – they’ll thank you for it!Opinions?
