Tips on Speed Dating Notes + Remembering NAMES
It's your choice, but when you meet so many people with so little time, it is a good idea to take some notes.
NOTES at Speed Dating:
You will be provided with a separate piece of paper at the event to do this. Try to make brief notes so you can remember the person you met with. You don't need to write a paragraph. Write something about their appearance, personality, occupation or something that was very unique about that person. Think of 3 to 4 words that would describe that person...
EXAMPLE: Chris - glasses, nice smile, works for LIRR, Golf pro. (Well, you get the idea...)
You don't need to take notes on every person you meet with. Take notes on only those you are possibly interested in meeting with again — it will save time.
Remembering NAMES
At ANY event - Speed Dating or Activity Event, remembering names can be challenging. Allow me to give you some suggestions on remembering names that may be important to you.
1. Make eye contact with the NAME tag and say the person's name out loud as you introduce yourself to each other
EXAMPLE Hi SUE (look at name tag) I'm JOHN
2. Make a "name association" with fun little rhyme or maybe an association with a relative or friend
EXAMPLE Hi Linda nice to meet you ... "Lovely Linda" ... or remember you have a cousin Linda !
3. SAY their name while interacting ...
Hey Mary, I think its your turn next?
Take the time to make that mental note
